Juvenes Translatores: a translation contest for secondary school

These days has started a registration to the next session of translation contest for secondary school. What is it? Secondary schools can register their students into the translation contest organized by the European Commission. It has been organized since 2007.

The Campaign „Youth for Trencin Region“

The idea of young people from Trencin Regional Centre of Student council secondary schools in Slovak Republic has become a reality. The campaign called “Youth for Trencin Region” was created as a project to increase the participation and active cooperation between young people and local governments. Main aims of campaign are to increase interest of young people in public affairs and promotion their education, especially in informally way.

Erasmus+, the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport, due for launch in January 2014, will build on the legacy of Erasmus by offering opportunities for 4 million people to study, train, teach or volunteer abroad by 2020. The programme is expected to have a budget of around €14.5 billion for 2014-2020 – 40% more than funding for the current education and training mobility programmes. Erasmus+ replaces the current Lifelong Learning Programme (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius, Grundtvig), as well as Youth in Action, Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink and the bilateral cooperation programme with industrialised countries.

Slovakia belongs to those member states of the EU, where the interest for international mobility continuously rises. In the last academic year 2865 Slovakian students used the opportunity of international exchange that program Erasmus offers.

Erasmus+ Irish presidency decides upon the future of the programme

This week, the Irish presidency of the EU achieves an agreement on educational programme for youth and adults under the new frame Erasmus+. This new scheme within the frame 2014 – 2020 will replace the Lifelong Learning Programme and for the first time in history it will contain also sport activities and non-formal education activities as trainings.

This project is part of “The Citizens of 2020″ Tour project, which was created shortly after launching the civil initiative Fraternité 2020 in order to support the main goal of the initiative that is obtaining a million signatures of European Union citizens until October 2013.

League of Young Voters Campaign

At the end of May was launched a campaign called League of Young Voters covered by European Youth Forum. It took place during the YO!FEST Festival. The main aim is to increase voter participation of young people in European Parliament elections in 2014. Their participation has been continuously decreasing.  European Parliament elections in 2004 were attended 31 % of young people between 18-24 years. Five years later, it was only 29 %.
